In Nikola-Lenivets Art Park in Moscow, as part of the New Media Night Festival, media design studio Radugadesign were commissioned to use Nikolay Polissky's architectural piece 'Universe Mind' as a backdrop for an 8 minute video projection to open the show.

Nikolay Polissky's Universe Mind

The original structure by Nikolay Polissky has been used as a centrepiece to many of the art parks events. It is the largest scale installation that Polissky has ever created, and is a continuation on his scientific series. With a focus on using natural materials to create an artificial intelligence, a well defined  structural arrangement is formed consisting of "a gigantic figure, symbolising the two hemispheres of a mechanical brain."

Radugadesign video mapped the piece, to show a variation of lights and movement throughout the structure. Inspiration for the show came from the 'Murcof' electronic music.

To get a sense of what the piece is like to walk through the inside, here is a 3D map that you can drag to explore.

At times, in my opinion, the lights in the show look like they are representing movement through motor neurones in the brain. I feel this is really relevant to our project, as we are currently looking at ways to show lights in our installation to represent this movement as well. This piece is visually very interesting and I think it will make great inspiration if we decide to go for a similar look of neurone lights scaled down for our model brain.
