At this point I have finished my rough edit. Here is what Avid currently looks like :

Rough edit complete

At this point (as well as continuously throughout the editing process) I saved the work by using Cmd-S while having clicked in the Bin Window on the top left.

I wanted to go back over and refine the edit, however I decided to make a duplicate that I can make changes on, instead of on the same sequence as the rough edit. This is so if anything goes wrong, I can refer back to the original and continue from there. To duplicate it I went to the downwards arrow in the 'Record' section on the composer window. This resulted in a drop down menu where I chose 'Duplicate.'

Downward arrow to get the option to duplicate sequence

A new window appeared asking me which bin I wanted to save the new sequence. I chose the 'Silent Woods Sequences' bin so that all sequences where together and didn't get muddled with the rest of the clips.

This was automatically saved as 'Silent Woods Rough Edit.Copy.01,' however I renamed this to be 'Silent Woods Final Edit' to make it clear which sequence was which. To rename it you click on the name of the sequence and this then allows you to type your desired name.

I have gone through the duplicate, replaced clips and fixed the general timing of the edit to how I felt was best, by using the previous mentioned tools such as splice-in and over-rite. This edit was more about fixing and perfecting things rather than placing everything in a good order on the timeline. Any shots I felt didn't work I looked for another one and made it fit into place etc.

Here is what the final edit looks like on the timeline :
